Anything Edible

A food blog focused on food photography, recipe creation and connecting with people through anything edible. Written and created by Vancouver (Canada) based photographer and designer, Tracy Tsui

Food is Art

When someone talks about creativity, we often think of art or the idea that creativity isn't a power within everyone. With Instagram and Pinterest being a popular visual expression medium, people are more inclined to contribute and put effort into making their photos or shares visually appealing.

We see a trend that food and many food-related images have hashtags like #foodphotography or #foodporn.  Some may not see those posts as creative but only you could have created that look. Only you would have thought to take the photo with the specific angle and at the exact moment  you did.

No photo is the same.

Alternatively, art can be created with food. Inspirations like Casey Ligon uses food to create beautiful typography while a previous client I worked with created simple sculptures with food. The possibilities are endless.

Somedays it feels like after I graduated from art school, I stopped creating but I am learning the the traditional methods of creation should not define me as an creative person or "artist".

As I find my own style and voice for my creative work, I start to realize that we just have to keep working and our style will eventually happen. With experiments, come knowledge and preferences to further grow that style.

Everyone capable of creating art. Put down the expectations and enjoy the adventure.
